Blood Circle

Darkness all around me.

Nothing else can I see.

But the scratching on the wall

Warns me of the monster’s claws.
-

Ten feet. Once he gets within ten feet,

He will taste my glaive, red as I beat

Him to the ground. For no Denizen will be found

Where Darkness surrounds my radius I’ve bound.
-

The creeping blood from red to purple.

It’s my spinning glaive’s deadly circle.

Stay out of my whirlwind.

You’ll get hit as I spin.
-

The shocking slash will prevent your approach.

If you dare enter this circle, I’ll make you into a cloak.

Skin your demonic hide with a ten-foot long scythe.

So in the Darkness of Day, you can call me the Light.
-

Sure thing, I can show you my Polearm.

You’ll get a close look as it slices off your whole arm.

No torch, no lantern. I fight by intuition.

I can distinguish the sounds if I listen.
-

Sneak up on me from behind.

My blade in your face you’ll find.

Pounce on me from above.

But be beware my spiky club.
-

“Shillelagh? Don’t make me laugh.”

“You think you can beat a fiend with a quarterstaff?”

Well, maybe you’d like to be pushed around.

My blood circle knocks you back when your head I pound.
-

“Opportunity Attack? You need sight for that!”

Sure, if you’re lame enough to hit when they away back.

I hit them when they get close. An impenetrable circle.

Don’t need to see to fight. You can call me the Oracle.
-

Crushing and Slashing; quarterstaff and glaive.

There are only so many specialties I can take.

I can stay Alert, I can be Observant.

It took so much training just so I could hurt them.
-

So I sit against a tree as I’m being hunted.

Holding out through the Day, waiting for it to end.

Glowing eyes of monsters mock because I can’t hide.

Monstrous vision pierces the dark, as my time I abide.
-

Just a few hours to night: until then I must survive.

But with more reinforcements, the demons arrive.

I can take on one or two, but I can’t count in the dark.

I fear I’m outnumbered, but their fear I’ll spark.
-

I ignite their terror as I charge through the Day.

An assault of claws? Stay out of my way!

I’ve got a ten-foot reach that will keep you at bay.

Only for a few more hours, these demons I must delay.
