Escape Artist
Bear Trap! I see it.
I touch it tentatively.
A swing and a miss!
I pull my leg out of reach.
Vicious sabers claw together beneath.
-
A loop of rope limp on the ground.
A snare trap I must disarm.
Trip over a tripwire into a canvas.
Tightening around me, hanging below the canopy.
Caught by my ankle, arms over chest in a straight jacket.
-
No problem for me. I melt through the fabric.
Shadowy whispers, I crawl out of my cocoon.
Fall from the empty shell of a straight jacket.
Roll over a tripline, jump over a pitfall.
Slip over marbles and catch the cage by its hinges.
-
Slink through the bars of my cell.
Hover past the drunken night, it sleeps too.
Life in the underworld is full of gloom.
Trip up the tripwires, and throw them to the snares.
Spill marbles over bear traps, glowsticks light my throne.
