Dream: Ordial
Dissappointing. When I saw the name of this doc, I thought iit was the dream I had about Ordial. Perhaps it is, but I must not have gotten around to writing the part of the dream that contained Ordial. Alll i know about ordial is that he was the first. He is now called Prime-ordial or primordial, but back then, he was simply 'Ordial' as there was no other like him. Oh, well. I guess I'll post it anyway.
8/24/2022 Dream Ordial
There I was. In bed. At night. But this wasn’t my house. We were sleeping on the floor. Blankets and sleeping bags laid out on the carpet. Yes, there were others there. I think they must have been my family. But what was in the dark, preventing my sleep. Like some emaciated dog, it was all skin and bones. Its muzzle too long and canines for teeth. No eyes. I wouldn’t want to see them either. It probably would have been the void of black pits, had I seen them. The blind dog-like creature, four feet long, one and a half feet tall. I didn’t dare make a sound as it prowled over our sleeping bags. Ribcage poking out, and gaunt face so hungry that it would be drooling if it still had any moisture in its dry husk of a body. Its wheezing breath paralyzing all who heard it. What could I do but lie as still as possible? Could it tell that I was awake? What would it do if it knew? Would it attack? But there were so many of us here. It wouldn’t want everyone to wake up, would it?
I felt myself rising from my sleeping bag. Barely conscious of what I was doing, I stood up. The beast’s eyeless face snapped towards me. Staring without eyes, I could sense its attention on me. The ambience of the room changed. The lights were off in the room and there were no windows. I became aware that I wasn’t seeing with my eyes. I wasn’t seeing at all. How could I be sure that the creature was really there? That wheezing breath… surely that could just be one of my family? I stared at the dog. In the sightless darkness, I could see the world in grayscale buzzing with static.
The door opened and light poured into the room. I opened my eyes. My mother stood in the doorway. “Is everything alright?” My mom called out, “I heard you shuffling around in this room.” I looked around the room. There was no dog. I couldn't believe I was so scared of something that wasn’t real. I mumbled something about a nightmare so my mother will leave and stop worrying. It was clear to me that something was wrong. I couldn’t hear the wheezing breath anymore. If it hadn’t been the dog, then this meant that whoever was having trouble breathing had stopped. I needed to know if it was still in here with me. But when I turned back from closing the door, I could see that my family was all in the room, including my mother. I felt like a fool. The dog was nowhere to be found. It had escaped while its accomplice distracted me. I knew what needed to do. I needed to hunt down the interlopers. I knew I was the only one that could do it.
