Auto-Immobile

July 12th, 2025.

Two eyes open but the third one's closed

-

Auto-Immobile

-

How did you know?

How did you know?

It's not a secret I've ever told.

-

How did you know?

How did you know?

That's a bit personal.

-

How did you know?

How did you know?

I'm at the helm but have no control.

-

How did you know?

How did you know?

I'm parked in the middle of the road.

-

Let God take the wheel

But not the gas.

I've got no drive,

Rolling nowhere fast.

-

I'm in idle with the engine revved.

Burning rubber as I thin the treads.

Spin the tires til the rim is red,

Glowing embers, nearly molten lead.

-

Stare at the rear view.

Look at the reflection.

The past is trapped

In my recollection.

-

Warning: Objects in the mirror

Are closer than they appear.

So you best start to prepare

While you've still got time to spare.

-

Come on in, the door's unlocked.

Let's go for a ride, I'll take you where you want.

But I'm a person, not a vehicle.

Don't get pushed down like a gas pedal.

-

I ought to slam the brakes.

Eject the passengers.

Open the trunk.

Kick out the furniture.

-

Take the keys and reclaim the road.

Own the path. Decide where I go.

I need to be responsible.

But how can I? I have no goals.

-

How do I know who I am?

When I'm defined by what I can?

Identify the year and brand,

Make and model to guide my hand.

-

I'm a car, but I shouldn't be.

I need to set boundaries.

I'd love to help, but I'm not a taxi.

But I'll do what I can. Try not to backseat.
